We moved from San Francisco to Sonoma as my daughter turned two. I had no preconceived notions of preschools in the area and visited practically every one. As a mom I looked for a warm and loving atmosphere. As a pediatric occupational therapist it was important to me that the learning experiences be age-appropriate, multi-sensory, based in knowledge of early childhood development, and fun! I knew when I toured that this was the place. My daughter has been there over a year and I’m routinely impressed with the creativity, projects, and activities. There’s lots of music, art, science and gross/fine motor play. I have confidence that my daughter is truly cared for and she has a ball. Also, the communication is great. I get photos a newsletter, and emails keeping me informed. The teachers are wonderful and they’re very flexible. With a little advanced notice they can usually accommodate extra hours which is a nice perk. My daughter is thriving at Old Adobe School–I highly recommend it!
We moved from NY to Sonoma, CA and finding schools for my two boys was no easy task. There were many pre schools to choose from. I did research and we visited this one before we moved and knew it was the right place for our 4 year old the moment we stepped inside. It is a warm, well loved school. The creativity that happens here is amazing. They do art every day, which happens to be my son’s favorite activity. He is now writing really well too, after 4 months here. There are two classrooms, one for pre-schoolers, mostly art and play based activities and one for pre-kindergarteners which has more structure. There is early drop off and after school options for working parents. The classrooms change every day into different play stations, keeping the kids interested. The playground is wonderful, with a full climb on area, plus a huge sand box, tire swing, outdoor toys galore and all the ride on toys you could ever want including plasma cars, trikes and balance bikes. My son comes home with projects every day, and is very happy here. We could not be happier either.
My grand-daughter announced to her mom when she visited Old Adobe School that it was “her new school” and she meant it!! The teachers are awesome and pay attention to each child equally. They make an adventure in everything they do from walking to the play ground to looking at worms to sharing at circle time. The staff works with you on scheduling and child issues. When the temp library moved in next door, the staff addressed all parent concerns and then took advantage of the situation by exposing the kids to more books!! Meg and the teachers seem to have as much fun as the kids.
Old Adobe School is a wonderful Pre-school for any child. Both of my children love the teachers and classroom environments. While only one of my children is still there my other still is fond of her teachers and the time there. The Pre-K class has an awesome mulit-cultural “hut” that changes each month as they learn all about it. You have to check it out for yourself! I recommend Old Adobe School to all my friends!
This school is fantastic. My children have a wonderful time at this school. We never have a drop-off issue, since they really look forward to going to school. The preschool room is great for early learners with children engaging in activities that they are interested in and lots of learning through play. The Pre-K visits new regions each month which serves as a basis for other play (learning) activities. Lots of outdoor time. I can’t say enough about all the teachers’ commitment to the school and their continued pursuit of educating themselves to enrich the learning environment for the children.
Amazing teachers, amazing students, amazing school!
